RINCON LIFE

By Dec. 3rd The bus in the 2nd photo below will be sitting  in the vacant lot pictured in the 1st photo. Pool Bars new venture will have board rentals, surf lessons. T shirts, hats, mugs as well as great tacos. Kind of a one stop watersports eatery focused on expanding a brand name. 

The bus will get a Wavey Gravy, Ken Kesey, Merry Prankster paint job. 

Mario, 2 Tees and My To are growing

 and going strong with business and family.. Mario has weekly water time in the line up at last. A personal and professional success story.

The BLACK EAGLE made a crash landing and has been reborn as  La Copa Llena.

Patty and I found Rico living here 7 years ago.  On my lap is KARL, Justin's alter ego.
I had to share a house with the two of them. That's all I gotta say about that except " WHAT HAPPENS IN RINCON STAYS IN RINCON.

One of them, which he repeated to me when I bitched about some stupid minor inconvience was: " I used to complain because I had no shoes...until I meet a man who had no feet."

 Justin and I passed on the swell that was building all day waiting for Tres to go off. Paddled out around 2:30 for some 8 to 15 foot bombs....WE SCORED!!!!

THIS BRINGS OUT MY GRANDFATHERLY SIDE......

.....BUT I AiN'T DEAD YET !!
To all my buddies out there...raise your hand if you turned your device sideways for viewing.

IN MEMORY OF BARKER WEST

Last evenings smaller surf at STEPS was arguably the best I've had in 54 years. Two hours of 5 foot perfection at Tres Beach.

Justin and I were the only two there, the sun was setting, the shoreline was lit up and on fire and we did a non stop rotation.

Justin said he could see the color of my rash guard and the outline of the upper body from the back of a head high barrel.

I've only caught it like this 3 times during a dozen trips spread over 8 years.Alltimers (please excuse the spelling) could not erase this memory.

Here's a photograph or two Patty took about 6 years ago. I don't believe it does justice to the experience yesterday.

A foot larger than this.... last evenings waves were more lined up, glassy and barreling inside out producing a speedy zipline ride for a minimum of 50 yards, like clockwork, every wave.

Barker,...... Patty and I were talking about you during our phone conversation  yesterday just before walking to STEPS BEACH. You were in each and every wave with me and the golden palms lining the shore. Sitting on my board as the torching red and orange sun was dipping down and cut in half by the horizon,  I spread my arms out full length, raised my head toward the sky and thought " this is for you dude".
