A "non surf" blog - Ventura in a new light

We are in Ventura the second time around but this time it's a little different. We have a car! We spent the first 7 months in California with no car - just our bikes and our motorhome. I'm glad we did it that way because it showed us that it can be done AND it makes us appreciate the little things. Like driving to the grocery store and the laundromat instead of stuffing everything in our back packs OR driving our home (RV) to all of these places. It wasn't easy sometimes getting into those small parking lots.

Yesterday we met Nancy and some friends for a movie in Camarillo. The day before we went to Santa Barbara to the Apple store for my "mac" session. We couldn't have done that last year. But the flip side is you end up spending more money this way. Last year we never went out at night. It was just too dark coming back on our bikes even with the bike lights. We are discovering different areas of Ventura too. We may go to the marina today.

We (at least I am) still riding our bikes into town and we vowed we would continue this. Ventura is very bike friendly and it's a joy to ride your bike.

We are settled in and getting into a routine. The kids (Rico and Nugget) like it too. And I'm finally getting used to the California weather. I'm not so cold anymore. But we've had great weather lately. I even jumped into the ocean in October with no wet suit. Yes me. I still can't believe I did it.
