COLOMBIA PART ONE

Part one: The city of Medellin. In 2007 we took this trip and met up with my Mother and father in law and a dozen family members consisting of uncles, cousins, aunts and brothers. They are shop keepers, doctors, office people and entrepreneurs. A mini mart with living quarters attached. Surrounding this block are multiple businesses including hair and nail salons and cafes which all look like just another residential neighborhood. When you take a walk around the block it gets interesting and fun.

We stayed with relatives. Each from a different class which I've tried to depict in several of these photographs. From the least income bracket to the upper bracket. From old money to newer income. What everyone has in common..? Love of family and generosity.

Wall decor in our bathroom. These next 5 photos from a house built around the turn of the last century. My favorite aunt.....Delia has lived here for 60 years. The servants seemed as old as the house.

YOU?....YOU JOAN WILDER?? If you've seen the movie "Romancing the Stone" maybe you will recall that line.

Breaskfast!

Old Downtown

The hip part of downtown.

I didn't meet another Americano while we were there.

In Part two we will tour the barrio.
