The entrance to Bora Bora lagoon is located at the break in the barrier reef seen above on the upper left.  Rain water, over thousands of years, poured atop the mount in the middle and flowed out to sea. Because coral can't exist in fresh water, the opening was formed. The bookends of these natural entrances made for great waves. The photo below was taken on the left side of the Lagoon entrance.
