FORGET IT
I've some great shots of our surroundings. Rico and I in the river in front of our new home base, Wild glassy conditions, Patty driving the rig (seldom seen), Mama Duck cruisin down the river with 5 offspring riding on her back. BUT..tonight..the connection just doesn't cut it for downloading pics. Bill bought a Martin d-28 and that's major news for anyone reading this who appreciates excellence. I have the photos of that too but I'll just have to keep in mind the old saying "PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE."

GOOD CONDITIONS
First shot is another shot of Bob the bobcat. Kinda cool and abstract with two different colored eyes
Yesterday was the best surf I've seen to date. 3 to 5ft. (6ft. faces) and slight offshores up and down the northern Big Sur Coast. It's gin clear and 55 degrees. The beauty .... a combo of clear dark blue turning powder blue just before the wave begins to pitch with the offshores and snow white ...whitewater/.. beautiful!

RICO'S ADDITION
SURFING AND HIKING AROUND MOLERA
Patty at Point Sur Lighthouse
WALKING BACK FROM THE SURF AT MOLERA POINT.
Spike had to go walk the dog so I think I'll write a little. Andrew Molera State Park is a unique place. It's a hike-in tent campground with lots and lots of trails. So the job is easy and it brings very laidback people. Everyone one is in a good mood and here just to enjoy nature. The rangers are also super nice. We think Spike spotted a mountain lion cub the other day. We've seen deer and bobcats, and....snakes. And many, many different types of birds. Of course nature also brings the unpleasant - ticks. They're abundant and we find them on our clothes and Rico. So before we go inside we do an extensive tick check. Some carry the lyme disease. The other thing that is everywhere is poison oak. I've already had some on my arm and it takes a long time to go away.

The biggest challenge has been the internet coverage. Because of this we're moving to another state park about 5 miles down the road - Pfeiffer Big Sur. It's a much bigger park where they accept RV's as well as tent. It's a nice site right by the river and surrounded by redwood trees. We're afraid though we won't have the tranquility of Molera. Oh well. Can't have it all. I've been walking with our neighbor (another camp host) every morning with our dogs on the "old coast road". We do about 5.4 miles each day. We've ridden our bikes on highway 1 and it isn't as scary as it looks. Since we don't have a car here we're kinda stuck and it would be nice to have a car. So we take the rig into town for grocery shopping and we've taken the bus a couple of times which only runs on the weekend until June.
Gotta run. Nuggie the cat has escaped. This is no place for a cat to be outdoors.

SY AND HANNAHS ART AND BEACH
We had such a great evening and morning with them. I should have had my camera with me during the guitar lesson, drinking, eating, bicycle riding, board repairing, cookie baking and driving the rv around the neighborhood. But I did have the camera next morning. The photos tell it like it was "THE MORNING AFTER!" Unfortunately our Verizon broadband has a hard time downloading those pics of bleary eyed party animals (we even stayed up past 11pm WHOA) as well as shots taken of their art on furniture, Rico abusing Sy and Patty and Hannah out on the cliffs of Shell Beach where Sy and Hannah live. Patty has switched to At&t broadband service which works here in Big Sur where we arrived today. She will download the software tomorrow and should download the photos fast at which time I'll post the real 'SY AND HANNAH'S ART AND BEACH BLOG.

LAST TIME AROUND
This is my buddy Wayne Faulkner. We grew up surfing and going to school together. A friend's dad had a 1940 Ford woody which was our ride looking for waves along PCH from Venice to Malibu to Rincon. Wayne flew down from Port Angeles, Washington where he works for WESTPORT YACHTS to visit over last weekend. There was a longboard contest being held at California St. which was a major flashback for the both of us. After we finished school (he from Humbolt University) we lived in Hawaii. Wayne took my place as Beach Captain (after Rabbit) at the Outrigger Canoe Club and the rest is history. So much of it that we spent 2 days talking about it nonstop as we had not seen each other in 26 years (1983). And it all happened thanks to Nancy (no f'in baggage) Sunfield who forced herself to attend her high school reunion. She knew I had been trying to locate Wayne for years and he was the 1st person she ran into at the reunion. THANKS NANCY! We leave for Big Sur today with a night in Pismo Beach (Sy and Hannah) and on to Monterey. Patty, Nugget, RicoBama and me..we are a team. Proven time and time again. LUCKY ME. r/s
